    Genesis

    Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is an autonomous body functioning under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Since its inception in 1965, the Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central Schools) have come to be known as centres of excellence in the field of school education promoting national integration and a sense of Indianness among the children while ensuring their holistic personality development and academic excellence.

    Established in 1970, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Mumbai Region, is situated within the beautiful lush green campus of IIT Powai, Mumbai. It is recognized as one of the 25 regions within the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

    At present, 69 KVs (including those with a second shift) are functioning under its jurisdiction.  Out of these, 44 are in the Defence Sector, 13 in the Civil Sector, 3 in the Project Sector, and 3 in the Institute of Higher Learning, spanning various areas in the states of Maharashtra and Goa.

    The region caters to educational requirements of over 85,497 students,  with approximately 3,069 employees dedicated to the organization. Embracing a Kinetic Value System, it instills values in both students and staff under the guiding motto of “Enter to learn, Leave to serve.”

    KVS  has created a Numero uno equity brand in the field of education with its path breaking policies, pace setting activities, exemplary contributions and trailblazing achievements. The primary aim is to empower students to meet evolving educational needs, fostering the development of well-rounded individuals equipped with essential 21st-century skills.
