    Genesis

    Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is an autonomous organization functioning under the Ministry of Education. Since its establishment in 1965, the Kendriya Vidyalayas have earned a reputation as centres of excellence in school education. They promote national integration, foster a strong sense of Indianness among students, and ensure holistic personality development alongside academic excellence.

    Established in 1970, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Mumbai Region is located amidst the picturesque and verdant campus of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Powai, Mumbai. It is one of the 25 regional offices of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan across the country.

    At present, 70 Kendriya Vidyalayas, including five schools operating a second shift, function under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai Region. Of these, 43 are in the Defence Sector, 16 in the Civil Sector, 3 in the Project Sector, and 3 are located within Institutes of Higher Learning, spread across the states of Maharashtra and Goa.

    The region serves the educational needs of more than 81,000 students and is supported by a dedicated workforce of approximately 3,069 employees. Guided by a dynamic value-based education system and the motto, “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve,” the region strives to nurture values, character, and a spirit of service among both students and staff.

    Over the years, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has established itself as a premier and trusted institution in the field of education through its progressive policies, innovative initiatives, exemplary contributions, and outstanding achievements. Its primary objective is to empower learners to meet the challenges of an evolving world by fostering academic excellence, holistic development, and the essential competencies and 21st-century skills required to become responsible global citizens.
